Pashmina Scarf Made with Yarn Hand-Spun with a charkha (spinning wheel)
It is a very special scarf. It is made with pashmina bought by us directly from a cooperative of nomads in Ladakh. To maintain the character and purity of pashmina it has not been exposed to any chemicals and has been hand-spun by women in Rajpur on a charkha (spinning wheel). This is a very slow process, requiring great skill.
The scarf is heavier than the usual pashmina scarf made with mill-spun yarn. As it is made on a handloom, there may be small variations in size. There may also be some inconsistencies in weaving and dyeing, which add to the scarf's character. The length is about 78 inches (198 cm), and the width is 12 inches (30 cms).
We will ship the scarf within 3 working days of receiving the order. If you are in India, we will ship by Speed Post. If you are outside India, we ship by DHL. Enjoy!
We make woolen stoles using a blend of pure merino and Himalayan wool. The stoles are coloured with natural dyes such as madder, indigo, harada and tesu flowers in the Himalayas. The dyed yarn is hand-woven into beautiful stoles in villages in the foothills of the Himalayas.
