Our woollen shawls are handwoven with a blend of Merino and Himalayan wool. They are colored with natural dyes. While some shawls are made with wool mill-spun in Himachal Pradesh, others are made with wool hand-spun by women in the Dunda and Bagori villages in the Garhwal Himalayas

All our woollen shawls are very soft. Those made with hand-spun wool are particularly soft and have a lot of character. To make these shawls we use hand-spun wool as warp and mill-spun wool as weft. These shawls are especially warm and provide comfort in the cold winter months.

We make shawls for women and men. The main difference between the two is that of size. The women’s shawl is 90 inches (229 centimeters) long and  36 inches (91 centimeters) wide. The men’s shawl is bigger: 100 inches (254 centimeters) long and 52 (132 Centimeters) wide. Although we sell the larger ones as men’s shawls, they are suitable for both men and women, especially to wrap around and feel cozy and warm in cold weather.

We also make woolen shawls handwoven with pure wool from the Himalayas. The wool, called Harsil Cross, is processed by hand by the Bhotia community living in the Dunda and Bagori villages in the Garhwal Himalayas. First, the wool is cleaned and washed by hand. It is then carded and spun on a spinning wheel. The shawls are woven on simple traditional looms by weavers from Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh, who migrated to these villages a few generations ago.

This wool is not as soft as Merino but is very warm and has a lot of character. These shawls are large and can be used both as shawls and throws.
