Handmade Woolen Scarves for Women
We make scarves using mill spun and hand-spun wool. For the latter, wool is hand-spun by Bhotia ladies in Dunda village in the Himalayas. While it was a common practice in the Himalayan villages to hand-spin wool, it is now confined to a handful of villages. We have a long-term association with Bhotia ladies in Dunda village, who spin some of our wool. We hand-dye this yarn with natural dyes to make hand-woven scarves in villages around Dehradun.
Scarves made with hand-spun wool are especial. They are very soft and warm, and have a lovely texture.
Hand-woven Yak wool stole
The stole is very soft and light as it is made with yak wool obtained from Kargyam village in the Changthang area of Ladakh. A number of crafts people have contributed to the making of these beautiful and very soft shawls. The shawl was hand-woven by Afsana begum and her husband Mohammed Gulzar in Rampur village near Dehradun. It is certified as hand-woven by Craftmark .
There may be small variations in size as it is made on a handloom. There may also be some inconsistencies in weaving and dyeing, which add to the character of the stole. The length is about 86 inches (218 cms) and width 24 inches (61 cms). There are also tassels of roughly 4 inches (10cms) length.
We will ship the stole within 3 working days of receiving the order. If you are in India, we will ship by Speed Post or a courier. If you are outside India, we will ship by FedEx.
